It's Time to Shine

Now is the time!  If you've been holding onto that big idea that you have always wanted to do, do it! The water is right, jump on in.  No matter how far from reality you feel your idea might be, it is time to make it happen.

Some of the biggest success stories have been created when everybody else seemed to think times were tough.  The reality is, people are looking for new hopes in life.  As people start to tighten their belts, they are looking for how they can change their current lifestyles for more effective ways of handing life's chores.  And as more and more people stay home instead of going out to spend their money, they are also spending more time on the internet.  What does that mean for you and me.  It means that the service or product you have pondering of doing for the past few years needs to become a reality now!  If you want people to see your idea, you present it to the largest crowd available.

But you and I both know that just because you release a product in the right timeline and you have made it a reality, it will only go as far as you push it.  This is your pride and joy, put all of your effort and skills and knowledge into it!  Explore target audiences.  Don't start the copycat startup of the month.  Innovate new ideas.  Find out what people are wanting and give it to them.  Would you rather build a local pizza store across the street from the new Pizza Hut or create the first viral marketing firm in your region.  Don't guauge your potential success by looking at how other's have succedded. Set yourself apart. Shock and awe.  Create a buzz around the water cooler, create a ripple of gossip through the town, present yourself and your idea with every bit of pride you have for it.

So it's time...let's give them what they want.  Don't just go with the flow, stir some things up. Remember, now is your time to shine!

Hurrican Ike

So Hurricane Ike is still bashing College Station with wind and rain (mainly wind). Power outages are spread throughout the city but not too bad. Houston on the other hand has a little bit of a mess on their hands. Major power outages are spread throughout the entire city. My parents, who live in South Houston, have been out of power since 6:00 PM last night and continue to run off a generator. Reports are that power won't be restored for the coastal area for several days. Good luck to all those affected in the Houston area.

I have been working with all of my clients from around the Houston area in preparation for the storm in getting all of their data moved over to backup systems in the Dallas area. As of right now, 80% of our Houston clients are actually out of power right now with some of our small businesses reporting facility damage with a potential for internal data being lost by water damage. Beginning tomorrow and Monday, we will be working on getting all these clients access to the backup systems until a more detailed look can be taken into the damage. If you need help with getting a temporary solution for any IT failures or internal web server down because of failures, please contact Wieghat Graphics and we will be glad to help you maintain a temporary solution until power is restored.

This and That

So as the Texas summer heat skyrocketing before Memorial Day Weekend, so are the costs of everyday living necessities. Gas here in College Station topped at about $3.89/gallon today...I give it until Saturday before we bust the $4.00 mark. And with this, everything else is rising in parallel with gas prices...food, energy costs, etc. etc. But what are we to do. I have felt in my mind that the $4.00 mark for gasoline is the point in which people will actually begin to re-evaluate and make dramatic changes to their driving habits. I know that I plan on trying to keep my gas thirsty truck parked as much as possible this summer and riding the campus shuttle bus everyday.

I finally finished searching for all of my bucks for the first Summer Session of classes here at A&M this year. So, unfortunately and dispairingly, I am now ready for the first day of class on Tuesday. Besides finishing up on a couple of website projects and launching one new client, I have been trying to enjoy this little break as much as possible.

That's it for now, hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer!

Summer was short...

So the summer break is coming to a close quicker than I originally thought it would. Have I been blowing off THAT much time, or has it really just been that short. I think it might be a nasty combination of both. School starts back up on the 27th, and I am taking an advanced Biology class the first summer session...it's gonna be a hum-dinger I hear. Oh well, just one of those things you just have to do I guess. I'm going to work hard this week to get ahead on some side projects as well as get myself prepared for the start of another semester. Wish me luck, and until next time, enjoy the summer sun!
